AFX-200 series: Cytokines Reducer |
| This program is a typical case of reverse targeting. The original bait compound has another biological activity and the result of reverse targeting showed a brand new mechanism of action to reduce several cytokines simultaneously and possibilities of other indications. Among broad potential indications, RA was selected as a pilot new indication. Animal model study of original compound and its derivatives with lower toxicity have both anti-inflammation effect and joint destruction controlling effect. |

AFX-300 series: Non-antibiotic macrolide |
| This program is based on long term clinical evidences in Japan to use macrolide antibiotics as anti-inflammatory drug for Respiratory diseases. Reverse targeting approach was applied to these compounds and its binders were identified as possible targets. Analysis for suggested new mechanism of action is underway. The company created derivatives that have anti-inflammatory effects but have no antibiotics activities for long term use on possible diseases. Animal study of these derivatives on IBD, Sepsis, Psoriasis and COPD animal model showed positive data. |
